QUALIFICATIONS:

Prospective staff members (full-time and part-time) for Coastal Opportunities must have the following qualifications:

  1. A high-school diploma or GED
  2. A valid Maine driver’s license

TRAININGS:

Direct Care Staff are scheduled to receive the following training within the first year of employment and must be recertified thereafter as indicated:

  1. Direct Support Professional (45 hours of training comprising 14 different modules)—initial training only
  2. CPR and First Aid—American Heartsaver, every 2 years
  3. Crisis Prevention Intervention—annually
  4. Client Rights—annually
  5. Driver Safety—annually
  6. Fire Safety—annually
  7. Universal Precautions and Blood-Borne Pathogens—annually
  8. CRMA (for all staff who administer medications)—every 2 years
  9. Body Mechanics and Patient Handling—annually
  10. Note: Some positions may require more extensive training or qualifications.
